About Ponder, Sykes & Wright

Known collectively as the Porchlight Trio, but originally known as Ponder, Sykes & Wright, Woody Wright, Michael Sykes and David Ponder first gained attention with their Dove Award-nominated PONDER, SYKES & WRIGHT album in 1998. The harmony singing trio had its roots in a late 1970s country gospel group called Willie Wynn and the Tennesseans, and the three friends drifted in and out of each other’s ensembles for years. Wright tasted mainstream success with the hit contemporary country trio Matthews, Wright & King in the 1990s before once again teaming up with his old friends. After changing names, the Porchlight Trio released a tribute album to famed gospel songwriter Dottie Rambo, before giving a similar treatment to Southern gospel legends Bill & Gloria Gaither.
